Lionel Messi recently admitted his move to the French club earlier in his career was ultimately out of his hands. He was stuck in a situation where he was forced to make a decision against his will. “My move to PSG was neither planned nor desired, I didn’t want to leave Barcelona.” While his career at his youth club was a fairy tale, it has been a rollercoaster ride for Messi ever since.
The Argentines time in Paris was rather uncomfortable for him. He never seemed fully engrossed in the game or enjoying football. This was a disappointment for PSG fans who were often vocal against him. He was booed by them many times while he was still performing. That would be tough for any player, let alone an introvert like Messi.
Expectations have always weighed heavily on the shoulders of the deadly trio of Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe. However, they never seemed to find the right chemistry at the biggest occasions on the pitch. While Messi always maintained his magic skills, passing and scoring, the French fans never really appreciated him. Many fans worldwide even called this mistreatment one of the greatest players of all time.
Now Lionel Messi has moved to Inter Miami and is already making headlines there ‘world class’ With his performances, fans assume he’s happier than he was in France. Messi also hadn’t interacted much with the media during his time at PSG. While he’s been quite vocal at his FC Barcelona and now also at Inter Miami, this bridal appearance will always be viewed as such ‘avoidable’ by the player.

The global reaction to the situation has been bitter for the French club. They were massively accused of disrespecting the player and just trying to enjoy family time on an outing outside of work. Messi’s time at PSG has been heavily criticized as it was simply a ‘money measure’ with no emotional connection which he shared with Barcelona. Ever since Messi won the World Cup with Argentina in the final against France, the country has turned its hostility on him.
