The Government Gazette published an order notice to inform the public that the remains of the ancestors buried in 6 public cemeteries in 2016 must be removed and disposed of.

The cemeteries involved are Fanling Wo Hop Shek, Cheung Chau, Tai O Cemetery, Lantau Island, the coffin tomb section of Lai Chi Yuen Cemetery, T section of Lo Wu Shaling Cemetery, and the government urn tomb of Shaling Urn Pagoda Cemetery segment.

Citizens who wish to arrange for the exhumation and disposal of the remains of their ancestors must submit an application to the Cemeteries and Crematoria Office of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department on or before the 31st of this month. The address is the upper ground floor of 6 Cheong Hang Road, Hung Hom, Kowloon. For inquiries, please call 2365 5321 or 2364 5364.

The authorities said that if the above method is not followed, the remains of the six cemeteries will be cremated in the government crematorium first, and the ashes will be buried in the Lo Wu Shaling Golden Pagoda Cemetery or other cemeteries designated by the Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene.
