Apple will not offer genuine leather iPhone 15 cases this year

The premiere of the new iPhone 15 is practically around the corner, we are only a few weeks away from it. However, there are speculations that Apple will not offer original leather covers at all this year, which are among the most popular accessories of this type. Again, ecology is partly to blame, as might be expected.
Apple and vegan leather
Tipster DuanRui on X Network (formerly Twitter) published short message: “I heard that Apple will not sell a leather case for the iPhone 15 series.” This source is not one of the most reliable, it has practically no big thing on its account that it can reveal with real advance.
However, the information is also confirmed by others – the server also confirmed the same speculation 9to5Mac and another, far more plausible tipster, ShrimpApplePro. If it is true, this means that Apple will not offer any variant of the classic leather case for this year’s iPhone 15 generation.

According to the mentioned sources, ecology is to blame. Apple leather accessories are made from premium cowhide. However, the manufacturer would like to take a more vegan route, which at the same time causes a smaller carbon footprint. The iPhone 15 will probably have cases with the same design as last year – only they will no longer be made of leather, but of synthetic material.
Another veteran tipster, who goes by the name Majin Bu on X, shared an image of iPhone 15 Pro Max leather cover sales on Thursday. In the end, however, it turned out to be non-original accessories from Chinese e-shops. If it is confirmed that the fakes are actually made of leather, it could be an interesting alternative to vegan (and much more expensive) Apple products.
Apple started offering classic leather covers and cases for its iPhones for the first time in 2013 with the then-presented iPhone 5s. Currently, Apple offers not only phone cases made of genuine leather, but also watch straps, AirTag key chains, MacBook covers or iPad covers made of the same material.
