If you have an unused laptop or mobile phone, there is an opportunity to donate these devices to provide education to poor students in different parts of the world.
The Dubai government has announced such a scheme for the needy students of various countries. Dubai Digital School plans to collect 10,000 devices in the first phase.
In the campaign called Donate Your Own Device, collect devices including mobile phones, laptops and tablets. The equipment will be collected by Emirates Red Crescent and eClux.
Used or damaged equipment will also be accepted into the scheme. Computers, laptops, tablets, mobile phones, routers, printers, headphones and power banks can all be donated.
These will be repaired and delivered to poor students in different parts of the world. The Digital School is a project implemented by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Global Initiative to bring digital education to the poor.
Equipment can be provided through the website. It will also be possible to donate money to the project through the Red Crescent and the SMS system of mobile companies in the UAE. Officials pointed out that in one part of the world, e-waste piles up, while in another part, such devices are a waste for many people.
