The Hidden Dangers of Eating Free Bread at Restaurants: A TikToker Reveals Why

Jakarta

Restaurants often provide bread on the customer’s table. Even though it can be eaten for free, you should avoid eating this bread. A TikToker reveals why.

A basket of bread often attracts the attention of customers when they are sitting at a restaurant table. This bread is ‘complementary’ alias can be enjoyed free.

The appearance of the bread is shiny and sometimes ‘fresh from the oven’ which often makes customers unable to stand eating it. But who would have thought, a TikToker in the United States revealed that this free bread should not be eaten.

Denise Tueller, who is famous for her healthy living content on her @sweetfiber account, said that consumption of bread can increase glucose levels, which in turn makes a person hungry. Finally they ordered more food in the restaurant.

Denise’s video is viral so that it has been watched more than 1.3 million times. “This bread is given not because a generous restaurant wants to satisfy customers, but rather as a way for them to earn more money from customers,” said the woman who is a mother.

When someone eats the bread, their blood sugar levels will soar, making them hungry. “The restaurant knows, it will make customers hungry, craving more, and it is difficult to refrain from ordering food,” continued Denise.

He says, “Customers ordered more food, the restaurant brought out more free bread, and they offered desserts that were hard to resist.”

According to Bistro MD, when you eat bread, your body will release insulin. This will cause the body to crave more food to compensate for the decreased insulin.

Many netizens also commented on Denise’s video. Some agree and some don’t. Those who agree think that giving free bread is indeed a restaurant tactic to get customers to order more. “You are right, the explanation is 100% correct,” said one netizen.

But those who disagree say that the bread fills them up. “It had the opposite effect on me. I ended up full (after eating the free bread) and ordered less,” said one netizen.

“I’m usually very full after eating bread and can’t finish my food,” said another netizen. So, which team are you?
