The open Buxtehuder city championships 2023 end around 5.30 p.m. with the award ceremonies. There the popular Rabbit and Hedgehog Cups presented, for which the Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer once promoted.

For the 19th time, the Buxtehuder Tennis Club “Rot Weiss”, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary at the same time, invited to this performance class tournament. About 170 players followed the call and will have completed 275 matches by Saturday evening. “Absolutely fair and without any special incidents,” says press officer Peter Schmidt.

He is very happy that two members of the host Buxtehuder TC fought their way to the final. In the women’s singles, Stefanie Tillmann meets Celine Tormählen (TuS Finkenwerder) on Saturday, 10.30 a.m. At the same time, Michael Siewert (BTC) and Claus Ohl (Harburger TB) face off in the men’s 60 final.

Lots of positive feedback for the careful organization

“Thrilling games under floodlights until midnight and smiling faces the whole time on the packed visitors’ terrace – tennis heart, what more could you want”, says press officer Peter Schmidt. The organizers received a lot of positive feedback from the players for the smooth running of the tournament, reports Schmidt.

There were a few small rain breaks to cope with. The club president Hartmut Hoops, Marianne Hecker-Kopatsch and Andreas Plötzky from the organization team are mainly responsible.
