Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a type of virus that can be transmitted through skin contact and sexual intercourse. Of the 100 types of HPV that exist, 40 of them are transmitted through sexual intercourse which can affect the genitals, mouth or throat. HPV is also one of the main causes of cervical cancer.
