Spanish media reported that Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bono did not return to Seville after losing the European Super Cup to Manchester City yesterday, to travel from Greece to Saudi Arabia in preparation for joining the ranks of Al Hilal. This was confirmed by Seville, through its coach Meldebar, in a press statement, following the loss in the European Super Cup against Man City. Marca newspaper stated that Bono, 32, is no longer with the Seville team plane to the Andalusian city, as he is preparing to undergo a medical examination and sign a contract with Al Hilal for 21 million euros ($22.85 million), while he will receive a salary of 12 million euros annually.
Bono participated with the European League champion in the Super Match, which ended in a 1-1 draw in Athens, before City beat it on penalties. Bono spent four seasons in Seville and led him to win the European League twice and qualify for the Champions League four times in a row. He also played a prominent role in Morocco’s historic achievement of qualifying for the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Al-Hilal continues to strengthen its ranks after the inclusion of Brazilian star Neymar, along with his compatriot Malcolm, midfielders Sergey Milinkovic-Savic and Ruben Neves, and defender Kalidou Coulibaly.
