CelebritiesMeryl Streep (74) and Oprah Winfrey (69), among others, will be honored with a prize this fall at the gala of the American Academy Museum Of Motion Pictures, entertainment section ‘ET’ reports. The museum’s gala focusing on art and film is being held for the third time.
Streep will receive the Icon Award on October 14, an award intended for “an artist whose career has had a significant cultural impact worldwide.” The actress thus follows in the footsteps of her colleague Julia Roberts, who received the award last year.
Oprah Winfrey also receives prizes during the gala. The former talk show host may pick up the Pillar Award in recognition of her “exemplary leadership and support for the museum.” Actor Michael B. Jordan receives the Vantage Award and director Sofia Coppola the Visionary Award for her “innovations that have developed the art of cinema.”
Despite the current actors’ strike in Hollywood, the SAG-AFTRA union gala has been given the green light to go ahead. Money will also be collected during the evening to support the activities of the museum.
