US Department of Justice arrests self-confessed racist
On Thursday, investigators arrested 45-year-old Hardy Carroll Lloyd of Follansbee, West Virginia. The small town is southwest of Pittsburgh, where a jury recently decided to sentence Robert Bowers to death. In October 2018, he shot dead eleven believers in the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh. Lloyd describes himself as a priest and is an open racist. The US Department of Justice has accused him of threatening the jury and witnesses in connection with Bowers’ trial via social media, email and online comments. According to the “Forward”, Lloyd is also said to have distributed stickers in predominantly Jewish neighborhoods in Pittsburgh that refer to a website with his anti-Semitic messages and threats.
Among them are slogans such as: “Go through every city in the United States and shoot every Jew you see.” “All Jews must be murdered. The Jewish race MUST be wiped out… So target Jews like BOWERS did… Bowers showed us the way. Time to follow him.” Lloyd was charged with obstruction of justice, threats of violence and witness tampering. He is being held without bail and faces a total of 35 years in prison if convicted (Link).
