A state of anger erupted yesterday in the face of Hezbollah and one of its deputies in Ain Qana, southern Lebanon.
The residents of that southern town took to its square yesterday, denouncing MP Muhammad Raad of Hezbollah and his colleague Hani Qubeisi (the Amal Movement and a close ally of Hezbollah).
In harsh words, a woman among the demonstrators vowed not to vote again for Raad.
Another of the two deputies, who did not feel the pain of the citizens, disavowed himself, before returning later and apologizing, in a move that some Lebanese hinted that “came under threat, as usual.”
The protesters denounced the positions of the region’s deputies and their ignoring of what is happening in their town.
Threat of escalation
In addition, the residents confirmed that there are dozens of cases of patients who need oxygen, as well as storing chronic medicines in refrigerators. They threatened to escalate their movements if the problem was not resolved and electricity was restored to the town, accusing the Jbaa-Jezzine regions of maliciously cutting off electricity, while the town’s deputies watched.
This anger came in the face of the deputies of that town, after its residents were deprived of electricity for days.
Movements have been taking place in that southern village for 3 days, in protest against the power outage.
It is noteworthy that these protests come while Lebanon is experiencing one of the worst economic and living crises in decades, as the local process deteriorated, lost about 90% of its purchasing power, and banks seized the accounts and funds of depositors.
At the same time, popular anger increased with the political class and parties in general, which are accused of collusion with banks, corruption and failure to run the country.
