Spanish first secured a place in the final after defeating Sweden 2-1 in the semifinal match at Eden Park, Auckland, Tuesday (16/8/2023) afternoon WIB.
Spain went ahead with Salma Paralluelo’s goal in the 81st minute, before Sweden equalized the score in the 88th minute through Rebecka Blomqvist. A minute later Spain took the lead again through Olga Carmona’s shot from outside the penalty box in the 89th minute.

The 2-1 score lasted until the game was over and La Rojas appeared in the Women’s World Cup final for the first time. On her first two occasions at the Women’s World Cup, Spain were eliminated in the group stage (2015) and last 16 (2019).
Spain’s opponents were England, who eliminated hosts Australia with a score of 3-1 at the Australian Stadium, Sydney, Wednesday (16/8/2023) afternoon WIB.
England took the lead through Ella Toone in the 36th minute. The Australian player who plays at Chelsea, Sam Kerr, fired a long-range shot in the 63rd minute which made the score 1-1.
However, the draw only lasted eight minutes before Lauren Hemp put England ahead 2-1 again. Alessia Russo’s goal in the 86th minute ensured The Lionesses’ passage to the final.
This is also the first time England has become a finalist, because they always failed in the semifinals in 2015 and 2019. The final for Spain vs England will be held in Sydney, Sunday (20/8/2023) afternoon WIB.
