Exploring the Bulgha Gold Mine: A Closer Look at the Arabian Shield Region’s Largest Gold Ore Mine

Al-Marsad Newspaper: Al-Arabiya channel published a report on the Bulgha mine in Al-Hanakiyah Governorate, west of the Kingdom, which is one of the largest gold ore mines in the Arabian Shield, and the beginning of production in it dates back to 2003.

Hani Al-Safyan, the channel’s correspondent, said that the Arab Shield region does not only include gold, as there are many metallic minerals, such as silver, zinc, tin, and others.

He explained that the area of this area exceeds about 630,000 square kilometers, which is equivalent to about 32% of the Kingdom’s area. He pointed out that the mine annually produces 11 million tons of raw gold.

He reviewed the mountain-like piles of raw gold, saying: “The layers of raw piles of gold are filtered using a processing material, and the raw gold material is extracted in the form of a liquid substance, as 7 million tons are extracted from these piles, and the gold liquid that goes to a specific stream is extracted.” They are water basins with a capacity of more than 50,000 cubic meters, and gold water is processed in factories to come out in the final form, which is gold bars.
