A 31-year-old man from Deux-Rives, Tarn-et-Garonne, was arrested for hitting his father with a telescopic baton in front of his brother and sister. Arrested a few minutes later by the gendarmes, he will be tried in February 2024.
The family dispute was almost dramatic on this summer Sunday. The story takes place in a commune of Deux-Rives, a canton in the west of Tarn-et-Garonne. A visibly upset 31-year-old man visits his father’s home on August 13, 2023, at midday. During this visit, the brother and sister of the thirties, younger and still staying there, are also present.
During this interview, the suspect is at least armed with a telescopic baton. He strikes several blows to the head of his father. “He also threatens his brother and sister with, without taking action, indicates the prosecutor of the Republic of Montauban, Bruno Sauvage. But according to their testimony, he would also have had in his possession a weapon, a revolver according to their testimony , without it being known whether it was real or fake.
Did he have a gun with the truncheon?
The trio of victims manage to call the gendarmerie of Valence-d’Agen just after the escape of the alleged attacker. The soldiers, who intervene quickly, manage to arrest the suspect ten minutes after the actions. This one does not oppose too much to the injunctions of the gendarmes, who place him in police custody at the very beginning of the Sunday afternoon.
“During this, the respondent acknowledges most of the charges, continues the prosecutor. He simply denies having held a firearm.” During the search of the suspect’s home, the gendarmes found a blank pistol, which could correspond to the description made by the victims of the brother and sister.
At the end of his police custody, the 30-year-old, who was not known to the courts, was brought before the prosecutor Bruno Sauvage. The latter requested placement under judicial supervision, which was accepted by the judge of freedoms and detention.
Judged on February 2, 2024
The respondent is prohibited from contacting and appearing at the victims’ homes, as well as from possessing and carrying a weapon. He also receives an obligation for psychological care and his addiction to narcotics as well as a bi-weekly check-in at the gendarmerie.
He will appear on February 2, 2024 for violence on the ascendant with a weapon involving a total interruption of work (ITT) of less than eight days (in this case three) on his father and violence with the use or threat of a weapon without ITT.
