When the regulations for engines change in the 2026 season, the Aston Martin team will switch to Honda power plants. Not surprisingly, in an interview with Racefans, racefans boss Mike Krak shared the concerns of his Red Bull Racing colleague Christian Horner that not everything can go smoothly.
Mike Krak: All teams are concerned about this. The powerplant manufacturers, together with the FIA, developed the regulation in the belief that the chassis designers could follow it, but then we saw that it would require some drastic changes to the chassis design.
However, it is technically possible. I always urge in the interests of the cause of the team to work together so that everything works out. I am sure that we will be able to draw up a regulation that will allow us to achieve the desired result, with which everyone will be satisfied.
The dialogue with Honda is already going on in all areas – sports, including the number of employees and passes, structural – we will have common or separate boxes. There are many questions and they all require time to work through.
We are also discussing the issue of integrating the power plant into the chassis of 2026 in the form in which we now imagine it. We try to take everything into account.”
