The Astonishing Salaries of European Soccer Stars in Saudi Arabia: Neymar, Ronaldo, and Benzema Lead the Way

Neymar’s arrival at Al Hilal for two seasons in exchange for €100M each has once again highlighted the large amount of money that European soccer stars who decide to make the leap to Saudi Arabia are receiving. The Brazilian star enters fully into the Top-3 of the players who will earn the most in the Saudi Pro League.

Le Parisien has dared to make a ranking of the highest paid players on the planet and the superiority of Saudi Arabia is scandalous. The coup d’état was achieved by Al Nassr with the landing of Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese signed until 2025 after parting ways with Manchester United in exchange for €200M per season. Similar figures will be received by Karin Benzema for each of the three campaigns that he wears the Al Ittihad shirt.

On the third step of the podium is Neymar, who signs for Al Hilal (the other big club in Saudi Arabia) in exchange for just over €100M per year. An amount similar to that charged by N’Golo Kanté for saying no to Chelsea’s renewal offer and embarking on the Al Ittihad adventure until 2026.

According to the Le Parisien ranking, there are only two footballers who are among the highest paid on the planet without yet playing in Saudi Arabia. In 5th place is Kylian Mbapp, who would be around €70M per season with PSG. Next up is Leo Messi, but already with a significant gap with respect to the rest of the super-paid. Leo Messi would reach €45M per campaign. The Argentine signed until 2025 with Inter Miami.
