Patrice Vergriete, born July 4, 1968 in Dunkirk (Nord), has been mayor of Dunkirk and president of the urban community of Dunkirk (CUD) since 2014. In 2020, he became president of France Ville Durable, and exercises the interim of the Presidency of the National Federation of Urban Planning Agencies. He has also served as Chairman of the French Transport Infrastructure Financing Agency (Afitf).

Through his academic background, Patrice Vergriete is an expert in urban planning and regional development. He is a bridge, water and forest engineer and a doctor in planning. He began his professional career at the end of the 1990s at the OECD, then joined the offices of Martine Aubry, then Minister for Employment and Solidarity, and Claude Bartolone at the Ministry of the City. He follows in particular the files of the Major city projects (GPV) and the policy of urban renewal.
Engaged in left-wing politics, he won the municipal elections of March 2014. He was re-elected to all these functions in March 2020. urban area as well as in terms of mobility.
