Incident of Contaminated Fuet-Salami Sold by Penny Market Raises Concerns About Food Safety

Unfortunately, we have another incident here, which only and only confirms that not only low-quality, but even dangerous goods are imported into Czech stores. As it turns out, we pay some of the highest prices for food in Europe, when, for example, food is significantly cheaper in the entire surrounding region. It could still be understood if Cech was paying for a demanding consumer, and thus had to give him only the best. But as it seems, in reality we are getting the worst thing ever to happen anywhere.

The lab showed a problem

This time, the Penny Market chain, which sold the popular Fuet-type Spanish salami, is in charge. The state agricultural and food inspection found major deficiencies in it. First, it was affected by an ugly fungus. “Laboratory analysis in an accredited SZPI laboratory proved contamination of the product with gray-green mold. If food shows signs of spoilage, it cannot be considered safe for human health,” SZPI stated on its Facebook profile.

In this case, the inspectors did not find any fact that could directly lead to food spoilage, for example damaged packaging or inappropriate storage. It is therefore necessary to assume that it is a wider problem, which was addressed during production, for example.

It is very common

Specifically, it is a Fuet Catalán product with a country of origin in Spain and a minimum shelf life of May 31, 2023. The batch number is 2306100883. The manufacturer is Noel Alimentaria.

The State Agricultural and Food Inspection is currently focusing on the occurrence of mold in food, which can be very dangerous. And unfortunately, it cannot be said that she does not celebrate her successes. On the contrary, something is found every now and then. At the same time, it is often possible to see the “catch” of the given food with the naked eye, and the chains continue to sell it anyway, which is unacceptable.

At the same time, it is interesting how the noble activity of SZPI bothers the merchants themselves. Indeed, even the head of the Trade and Tourism Association spoke up with the remark: “And what if you finally stopped slandering sellers and started putting in the headlines those who are really to blame for poor quality food?” These words are amazing, because of course even the sellers should take care to import quality food, which they clearly don’t.

Anyway, if you have this Fuet from Penny Market at home, it should be thrown away, because you can hardly be sure that yours will not be affected.
