The Xiaomi Band 8 Pro is more of a smaller watch than a bracelet
The novelty can monitor health and measure various sports activities
The price in China starts at 1,500 crowns
Today, Xiaomi not only introduced the flexible smartphone Mix Fold 3, but also several other products. Among them is the Band 8 Pro bracelet, which could reach the global market compared to the aforementioned jigsaw. What can the latest bracelet from Xiaomi do?
Xiaomi Band 8 Pro: more of a watch than a bracelet
If last year’s Band 7 Pro stood on the border between a smart bracelet and a watch, this year’s model is a little closer to a watch. This is mainly due to the display, which grew from 1.64 to 1.74″. It is an AMOLED display with a resolution of 336 × 480 pixels, a maximum brightness of 600 nits and support for the always on function. The screen is covered with durable Gorilla Glass.
The display is embedded in a polymer case, which will be offered in black and silver. The weight increased to 22.5 grams, the floor plan dimensions also increased, while the thickness decreased from 11 to 9.9 mm. The water resistance of 5 ATM has been preserved, as well as the ability to change the straps – Xiaomi initially offers ten of them – 4 silicone, 2 knitted, 3 leather and 1 Milanese pull.
The Mi Band 8 Pro display runs an improved user interface that has both improved widgets and a more comprehensive presentation of information. The environment contains more than a hundred clocks and can monitor up to 150 different sports activities. It goes without saying that the user’s health is checked, which includes continuous monitoring of heart rate and blood oxygen saturation, monitoring of sleep, stress, women’s health, breathing exercises, etc.
The acceleration sensor, gyroscope, optical sensor of heart rate and blood oxygen are in charge of monitoring health and sports parameters. There are also GPS location services and support for mobile payment using NFC. The bracelet pairs with the phone thanks to Bluetooth 5.3.
The Band 8 Pro has a built-in battery with a capacity of 289 mAh, which is supposed to ensure a battery life of up to 14 days, but without always on mode – with it, the battery life drops to 6 days. Charging should be quite fast, from zero to 100 percent should take 80 minutes.
Price and availability
The Xiaomi Band 8 Pro will be available in the Chinese market starting today. With a silicone bracelet, it will cost CNY 399 (about 1,500 crowns with VAT), with a leather one at 449 CNY (about 1,700 crowns with VAT). Availability on the global market has not yet been announced by the manufacturer.
