According to the New York Mercantile Exchange, September was trading at USD82.58 per barrel at time of writing, up by 0.08%.
It was previously trading at a session high of USD82.72 per barrel. It may find support at USD81.76 and resistance at USD84.89.
The dollar index futures, which measures the performance of the US currency against a basket of six other major currencies, fell by 0.11% to trade at USD102.95.
Meanwhile on Nymex, the October price rose by 0.13% to trade at USD86.32 per barrel, while the spread between contracts stood at USD3.74 per barrel.
