Deadly Floods and Landslides Claim 51 Lives in Himachal Pradesh: Updates and Rescue Operations

New Delhi: Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has announced that 51 people have died in Himachal Pradesh in 24 hours due to unexpected floods following monsoons. Four died in Uttarakhand.

Many people were injured and missing in Himachal. Rescue operations are continuing under the leadership of the Army, National and State Disaster Response Forces. Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla announced that the national flag hoisting ceremony at Raj Bhavan today, which is Independence Day, has been postponed in the wake of the tragedy. Meanwhile, seven people were washed away in the flash flood in Mandi district. The search for them is going on.

Seven people died in a landslide in Segli Panchayat of Mandi itself. This includes a two-year-old child. Three people who were trapped in the area were rescued. The bodies of five people were found in a landslide in Shimla’s Fugli area. 17 people were rescued.

Seven members of a family were killed in a cloudburst in Jadon village of Solan district. Six people were saved.

Two children died after their hut collapsed in Balera.

Meanwhile, the Kalka – Shimla railway track between Jutog and Summerhill stations was washed away due to heavy rains.

Heavy rain continues in six districts of Uttarakhand. The Chardham pilgrimage was postponed for two days. Union Home Minister Amit Shah assessed the situation in both the states.

Five people were trapped in the ground after the resort collapsed in Pauri. A ten-year-old girl was saved. The accident victims were from Kurukshetra, Haryana. Traffic on the Badrinath, Kedarnath and Gangotri National Highways has been disrupted due to landslides. Meanwhile, footage of the collapse of the Defense College in Dehradun has emerged. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a high-level meeting and assessed the situation. Uttarakhand and Himachal declared red alert today.

9 dead in Shimla temple collapse

Shimla Summer Hill Shiv Kshetra collapsed in landslides, killing nine people. The search is on for 20 people trapped in the ground. Himachal Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukh reached Summer Hill and led the rescue operations.
