Hockey Fun Turns Painful: Tonje Frigstad Takes a Puck to the Face During Zuccarello All-Star Game

This weekend there was a hockey atmosphere in the DNB Arena when the annual “Zuccarello All Star Game” was held in Stavanger. The Norwegian hockey star Mats Zuccarello (35) organizes an ice hockey party every year where several matches are played, including a celebrity match.

Among others, TV profile Tonje Frigstad (23) played there, which she tells Nettavisen was a fun experience despite the fact that not everything went according to plan during training before the big match.

The former “Farmen” participant had a hockey puck shot straight in the face. The 23-year-old says, somewhat surprisingly, that she was lucky despite her bad luck.

Dropped safety equipment

The 23-year-old Frigstad sensed peace and no danger when she went out on the ice to train with the team. She says that she got some hockey tips from presenter and journalist, Siri Avlesen-Østli (39), who ended up in drama.

– Siri is completely raw and has actually played quite a bit of ice hockey, so I told her in training that I struggled a bit with lifting the puck. I was right behind the goal when she lifted the puck and it hit the crossbar causing it to bounce on me. It was bad luck, says Frigstad to Nettavisen.

The hockey puck hit Frigstad right in the cheekbone. Hockey pucks usually weigh between 150-170 grams, but at a high speed it can do a lot of damage.

According to the 23-year-old, she was not wearing sufficient safety equipment during training. Among other things, she was not wearing a grille over her face, which is actually there for protection.

– We hadn’t had time to install the grid before training. And it was unlikely that you would suddenly get a puck in your face when you are just going out and playing for yourself on the ice, she says.

Even though Frigstad was hit in the face, she is still grateful that it only hit her cheekbone.

– I was actually very lucky to get it in the cheekbone, it could have hit me right in the nose. It would have been much worse, so I was actually quite happy, she says with a laugh and adds:

– But of course it was very painful, and I saw the bullet just grow and grow.

Had to improvise

In front of Nettavisen, however, Frigstad says that she holds absolutely no grudge against Siri Avlesen-Østlie.

– Siri got so upset and felt very guilty, but it was just bad luck so it didn’t matter. It’s just a “battle scar”, laughs Frigstad.

Nettavisen has tried to get in touch with Siri Avlesen-Østlie. She has not yet responded to Nettavisen’s inquiries.

Frigstad also says that she received good help after the puck accident, and fortunately the injury was not so serious that she needed medical attention. The most important thing was to ice her cheek before the celebrity match, but the 23-year-old quickly discovered that she had to improvise:

– No one really had an ice bag, so we collected a lot of ice from the pitch and put it in a bag, she says.

A few days have passed since the accident, and with the exception of a bruise and some swelling on the face, Frigstad has been doing well.

– I have become more blue and swollen, and it looks much uglier. It looks a little worse than it is.
