Glimmer of hope on Sunset Boulevard. After more than 100 days of a strike started on May 2 by some 11,000 Hollywood screenwriters, joined for a month by several thousand actors, the discussions between the authors’ representatives (the WGA – Writers Guild of America) and those entertainment giants (the AMPTP – Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers), are moving forward.
In an e-mail sent last weekend to its members by the WGA, the union, which met the AMPTP on Friday August 11, claims to be examining the counter-proposal of the emissaries of the studios, the details of which are not specified. A response will be provided within the week, indicates the authors’ union, which calls in particular for an increase in the various minimum remuneration thresholds, as well as guarantees against the writing or rewriting of scripts by artificial intelligence.
