The Perverse Silences of President AMLO: The Unspoken Allies and Criticisms

We are used to the President’s attacks, every day, always the same. In the Mañaneras, we know it, Xóchitl Gálvez, Felipe Calderón, Vicente Fox, Claudio X. González, Ciro Gómez Leyva, Carlos Loret de Mola, Héctor Aguilar Camín and some enemy of the situation will receive attacks for the simple fact of being there, of existing and embody what the President calls the opponents of the transformation. But what about the silences? No matter what happens, the President will never talk about certain characters and if he does, he will do it with extreme care and unusual courtesy.

If someone represents the anti-values ​​of the so-called Fourth Transformation, it is Ricardo Salinas Pliego. The character that he himself has built on the networks is classist, racist, despot, trickster, aspirationist, everything the President says he hates. He viscerally attacks the Morena leaders and campaigns against education and health policies. However, AMLO does not stop calling him his friend, because he was a campaign collaborator.

Carlos Slim is the richest man in Mexico and became the richest in the world. In addition to his natural business skills, Slim had in his hands the most desired treasure for any businessman: a monopoly. Thanks to the fact that we Mexicans have paid a premium for years, he now owns the telephone service in all of Latin America. One of his companies was directly responsible for the collapse of the Metro Line 12 viaduct that cost the lives of 26 people and almost left Morena without “corcholatas”, since it involved Sheinbaum and Ebrard. “The engineer is going to help us,” said the President and exonerated the owner of the company and the executives of all criminal responsibility. She will never lower herself to speak with and about the Zapatistas, the mother seekers, the social movements, the ecologists, those displaced by violence, those who claim her lack of commitment in defending the territory against the interests of the mining companies. .

We spend too much time listening and analyzing what AMLO says and pay little attention to the perverse silences of “El Peje”.
