Although no one was injured, the danger has not passed and that is why the Coast Guard and all those who intervene are on alert, because in the same area, near the pier, another mine was seen floating on the water.

The Coast Guard intervenes to resolve this situation.

This sea mine hit the pier and according to the authorities there is no major damage.

It is a rather tense situation because there are many people on the seaside, Costinesti being a crowded resort.

Corneliu Pavel, the spokesman of the Naval Forces, stated that it is a difficult mission and that because of the very strong wind “the state of the sea is not really good”.

“It’s a difficult mission for divers. Once they get there we will have more information. Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine until now, our divers have neutralized five sea mines in our area of responsibility,” said Pavel.

He also explained what is the protocol that is applied in such situations: “An inter-institutional cooperation plan is being implemented, between the authorities with a role in situations of this kind, we have a detachment of divers, specialized vessels and necessary equipment for missions of neutralization of sea mines. These mines are a danger not only to navigation but also to shore activities.”

The incident takes place before Navy Day.
