To replace the outgoing Roberto Mancini, the FIGC has decided to bet first of all on Luciano Spalletti. The former Napoli coach has gained positions in the last few hours in what immediately seemed like a two-way race with Antonio Conte. Two profiles immediately taken into consideration given the importance of the role and the need to raise one’s head after the two World Cups not played by our national team. Charisma, experience and strong hold on the group for both. But if Spalletti, as was said, has taken a significant advantage over his competitor, for Gravina and the FIGC there is first a delicate issue to resolve: the contract that still binds the coach to Naples.
This is the situation. The renewal that Napoli exercised unilaterally last spring (the famous Pec of De Laurentiis) means that Spalletti is still under contract until next June. The problem is therefore to find a way out of this impasse: clause or non-clause whose existence is not clear, there is simply a contract that must be resolved so that the technician can settle elsewhere. OR Spalletti resigns (but the resignation can still be rejected) or De Laurentiis needs to release him, finding a consensual agreement. Or again it is necessary that the parties turn to the Chamber of Conciliation to find a mediation. A problem that the FIGC still hopes to be able to face and solve with the active contribution of Spalletti himself and De Laurentiis, in the awareness however that the times could riskily lengthen. Certainly the Federation does not intend to pay money to free the coach.

Antonio Conte. He ended his relationship with Tottenham well in advance of the natural deadline, he was approached with Inter and Juventus without ever reaching real negotiations. Above all, he has already carried out the task of coach of the blue with excellent results before attempting the adventure in the Premier League. He comes from a long period of very high salaries but rumors have come out of his circle of friends that they are willing to settle for figures more within the possible reach of the Federation. But at the moment he is one step below his rival. Contract with Napoli permitting.
