The value of a specific copy – information today.it
The euro, the official currency in most of the countries belonging to the European continent, has been in circulation for about twenty years now. A short life, in short, but not without satisfaction from the point of view of placing specific specimens on the collectors market.
Let’s think about what happens, for example with many 2 euro coins, specific specimens often used by various countries for celebrations or commemorations. In those cases prices can skyrocket up to a few thousand euros. In other cases, however, valuations are still very low, such as the situation, for example, with cuts of a few cents.
There was a time when, however, those same cuts, in other eras therefore, meant a completely different thing. Let’s think of the 20 cents of a lira, a denomination that is now almost forgotten. A cut that today is literally sought after by collectors from all over the world through the various specimens still on the market today.
The search for these specific specimens starts from the Kingdom of Italy and inevitably stops at the end of the twentieth century, following the advent of the euro. One of the most popular specimens is the one minted in 1863 following a major monetary reform. Each specimen was totally redesigned.
The piece in question was called the “Coat of Arms” as it depicted the same coat of arms of the House of Savoy. Very few pieces made, only 500, this is because the same coin resulted too similar to the same gold 5 lire specimen.
