By: Carolina Oleaga

SANTO DOMINGO.- The citizen of Cuban origin, who attacked the Digestett agent, received a beating in the Police detachment where he was arrested, for which he remains hospitalized in a private health center, according to his lawyers.

After his arrest for the incident with the Digesett agent, Julio César Llorente López, of Cuban origin, was admitted to a clinic due to the beatings he received at the Villas Agrícolas detachment, his lawyers denounced this Saturday.

“To clarify, he did not receive the attacks in the Naco detachment, but rather the attacks were received in the Villas Agrícolas detachment, once he was going to be admitted to the cell even accompanied by the police agents, and that is why he has not been presented here because he is admitted to a health center”, said the lawyer, José Hoepelman.

Although he did not specify if the injuries were caused by police officers or by his cellmates, the robed man indicated that his client apologized to society for what happened.

“He wants to express through me to society that he is deeply sorry for having reacted in this way to an action that he understood to be illegal,” said the lawyer.

The video that went viral shows the moment in which the foreigner Llorente López hit Digestet member José Anthony Alcántara Rojas in the face, after the agent supposedly took photographs of his documents after being arrested for using his cell phone. while driving.

Given the defendant’s health conditions, the Permanent Attention Office of the National District postponed this Saturday the first attempt to cognize the measure of coercion.

Hearing of the measure of coercion was postponed until next Tuesday at 9 in the morning, after the writ of habeas corpus, filed by the defendant, is known.
