“Problems innad i Høyre” sounded a single from the humor-hard rock band Black Debbath in 1999.
Now rank-and-file member Erik Storelv makes these words his own in many ways, through a harsh attack on the party’s mayoral candidate Lisbeth Hammer Krog in Bærum and Lene Conradi in Asker.
The reader’s entry in Budstikka concludes by urging people to vote for a party other than the Conservative Party in the local elections on 11 September.
– When you nominate a person as a mayoral candidate for a fourth and a fifth term respectively, then there is a problem. Abuse of power, hidden networks and putting democratic processes at risk can then occur, says Storelv to Dagbladet.
Striker Støre: – I’m tired
It was The messenger who mentioned the matter first.
Have to think about it
Now local team leader Henrik Asheim takes action. He simply encourages Storelv to consider its membership.
– Isn’t there a higher ceiling height than this in the Conservative Party?
– There is a high ceiling in Høyre. We have extensive nomination processes where everyone can have their say. But when the annual meetings have chosen and the lists are ready, it is wise not to use the election campaign to encourage people to vote for another party. That is why I am asking Storelv to consider its membership, says Asheim to Dagbladet.

– Do you consider this to be so disloyal that it is appropriate to exclude Storelv?
– No, we have no culture for that. I have simply asked him to consider not being a member of the Conservative Party, all the while he is urging people not to vote for the Conservative Party.
– But will there be waves?
– I think most people hardly shrug their shoulders at this. Conradi and Hammer Krog are two of the most popular mayors in the whole of Norway, no matter how you measure it. So I think this hardly creates ripples, says Asheim.
– Proves that I’m right
Storelv, for his part, claims that yes, there are waves, and it is not right-wing waves he is talking about.
– But I didn’t create these waves, I just describe them. I have tried to address the issues in the nomination process. The entire discussion was rejected. Which proves that I am right, claims Storelv.
Run over by Erna: – Damn
– Are you considering accepting the call for withdrawal?
– I’m in the process. But the more I am encouraged to unsubscribe, the more I feel there is a need for me to remain a member.
Storelv believes that the lack of replacement at the top of the parties is a general problem that applies to several parties and several municipalities.
– The parties must wake up and see the need for renewal. This also applies to the top candidates, he concludes.
