Unions of Ñuble request a meeting with President Boric – La Discusión

In a meeting held at the offices of the Presidential Delegation of Ñuble, local leaders of unions such as the Chilean Chamber of Construction, the Chamber of Commerce and the Farmers Association, met with the presidential delegate of Ñuble, Gabriel Pradenas, to request a direct opportunity for dialogue with the president, Gabriel Boric, and thus address the crucial challenges facing the region. Among the priority issues, the urgent need to improve the electricity supply stands out.

The president of the Chilean Chamber of Construction Ñuble, Ricardo Salman, explained that “our goal is to address pressing issues in our region, which explain the alarming rate of poverty and extreme poverty in Ñuble, the highest at the national level.”

The head of the construction union recognized the efforts of the Government and its respective ministries and seremis to diligently address the situation that Ñuble is going through, however “we believe that the participation of the productive unions, which play a crucial role in generating employment and in the search for solutions, is essential”.

The representatives of the main unions of the region seek to finalize this meeting with the President to discuss, in addition to other issues of interest, the prompt approval of the project that modifies the electricity legislation. “It is well known that transmission obstacles represent one of the main challenges hindering the implementation of investments in our region,” Salman added.

For his part, the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism of Ñuble, Alejandro Lama, explained that the request for intervention by the Presidential Delegate to be able to meet with President Boric, is part of the visit announced by the national president to the Region on August 20, and among the objectives would be to raise the need to accelerate the Energy Transition Bill presented last May by the Minister of Energy, Diego Pardow, during his visit to Chillán.

“We want Ñuble to get out of the bog he has on this particular issue. The electrical transmission is a great inconvenience (…) We were well received by the Presidential Delegate and we hope that this instance will take place with President Boric to deliver this enormous concern that overwhelms Ñuble, especially due to the fact that we have reached the highest poverty levels in the entire country.

The representatives of the construction, trade and agriculture unions will await the response of the Presidential Delegate in the coming days to meet with the president, which would be after the traditional civic-military act in commemoration of the birth of the nation’s hero. in Chillán Viejo, which will take place on August 20.
