Beer Powered Vehicle: The Invention that Runs on Beer

Here comes the beer powered vehicle

The curious invention comes from the United States and replaces traditional fuels with a universal drink: beer.

The beer it undoubtedly has a historical link with numerous cultures scattered around the world and has always been a drink loved by many. However, the sector with which it has never been able to get along is engines, and for obvious reasons. Too many yearly accidents caused by drunk driving, and beer is often the unfortunate culprit of these tragedies.

All of this changed a few weeks ago, when some absurd news arrived from the United States and which would finally create a collaboration between beer and engines. It’s about a vehicle powered by beer created by one Ky Michaelson. As strange as it may seem, the news is real and it is not the only alternative solution we know about.

Two other bizarre but functional experiments are that of the excrement-powered bus – probably the most absurd – and the Volkswagen Scirocco and its consumption of used coffee beans. Beer remains a very particular fuel as excrement or used grains are products to be discarded, while the drink in question has also been adapted to another use.

Ky Michaelson built his beer powered motorcycle in the United States and gained media coverage when he was interviewed by Fox News about his invention.

The high cost of traditional fuels

Ky Michaelson is not a big drinker or beer lover, which might come as a surprise. The inventor told Fox News that his “MotorBeer” began as a way to avoid the use of traditional fuels, the costs of which have skyrocketed in the last year or more. But to clarify the effectiveness of this alternative fuel Michaelson will need time to carry out various tests.

In fact, it is not yet clear how much consumption, and consequently how much autonomy, beer is able to guarantee. “I need an isolated area to do some tests. I’m working on it”Michaelson said. If his invention were to prove successful, it would sanction a further opening towards a world of alternative fuels that could enter the tanks of our cars.

The MotorBeer would reach 240 km/h

The motorcycle runs on a steam engine

This is the essential co-star of beer: the steam engine. We therefore go back technologically to be able to heat the beer sufficiently – up to 300 degrees – to be able to produce energy. The motorcycle, similar to a chopper, houses a 52-litre tank-keg under the saddle and it seems it can touch the 240 kilometers per hour.

Such a strange invention really makes us understand the potential in the field of fuels (although the problem of the supply and consumption of any unconventional fuel would remain). If the MotorBeer doesn’t work instead – if he “drank” too much, as they say – the beer will remain in the pantry.
