Farewell ceremony for People’s Artist of the USSR Vera Vasilyeva is taking place at the Theater of Satire. Relatives, colleagues and fans came to say goodbye to the actress, reports TASS.
The funeral service is scheduled for 14:30 Moscow time in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. Later, the actress will be buried at the Novodevichy cemetery.
Vasilyeva died on August 9 at the age of 98.
Vera Vasilyeva was born on September 30, 1925. In 1948 she graduated from the Moscow City Theater School and joined the Satire Theater where she worked for 75 years. Vasilyeva has more than 60 roles on her account, one of the most famous is Countess Almaviva in the play Crazy Day, or The Marriage of Figaro. The actress starred in more than 40 films, including The Legend of the Siberian Land (1947), Chuk and Gek (1953), Wedding with a Dowry (1953) and many others.
