Ousmane Dembele’s Transfer to Paris St. Germain: French Football News, Contract Details, and Team Changes

French football representative Ousmane Dembele transferred from FC Barcelona to Paris St. Germain. The Ligue 1 champion paid the 26-year-old forward a sum of 50.4 million euros, which was set by the Catalan club in the buyout clause. In PSG, he will become a teammate of Slovak defender Milan Škriniar.

“I am very happy to be a player of Paris St. Germain. I can’t wait to wear the new colors. I believe that I will continue to develop in Paris and make everyone who loves this club proud,” Dembele confessed after completing the transfer.

Dembele’s departure from Barcelona was hinted at at the beginning of August by coach Xavi Hernandez, who let the player sit on the bench during training. The 2018 World Champion and 2022 World Vice Champion from Qatar signed a five-year contract with PSG.

The French winger grew up playing football in the youth academy of Rennes, he came to Barcelona in 2017 from Borussia Dortmund, but his time at Camp Nou was marked by several injuries. Despite this, he won three league titles with FCB and won the Spanish Cup twice. He still had a year left before his contract with the “Blaugranas” expired.

Dembele has 37 starts and four goals for the national team. In PSG, he will also meet three national team teammates Kylian Mbappe, Presnel Kimpembe and Lucas Hernandez.

However, Mbappe may not stay long at the club. The management of PSG have made no secret of their intention to sell him after the top scorer of the World Cup 2022 refused to extend his contract, which expires next year. According to DPA, he has reportedly already agreed with Real Madrid to sign him as a free agent in a year.

The Argentinian striker Lionel Messi, who headed to Inter Miami, has already left the team, and the third offensive star of the team, Neymar, is also leaving. A few days ago, the Brazilian informed the club’s management that he wants to leave Prince Park this summer.

Dembele is PSG’s ninth signing, which, in addition to Skriniar and Hernandez, also acquired goalkeeper Arnau Tenas, midfielders Manuel Ugarte, Chero Ndour and strikers Marco Asensio, Lee Kang-in and Goncal Ramos.
