Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The United States (US) National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) opened its voice regarding viral uploads that say the sun will rise from the West on the Facebook social media platform.

The Thai-language viral post was uploaded on January 14, 2021. The post claims NASA says the Sun will rise from the West caused by the Earth’s rotation in the opposite direction.

“NASA confirms the possibility of the sun rising from the west. The earth rotates in the opposite direction causing the sun to rise from the west!!” wrote the text quoted from AFP.

“Researchers believe that we are moving towards the opposite of the magnetic field which will lead us to the end of humanity and the approach of doomsday,” he added.

Related to this, NASA also opened its voice regarding a claim that the sun rises from the west. The agency said it had never issued predictions about the claim.

“Neither NASA nor any other scientific organization predicts the sun will rise from the west,” said Bettina Inclan, NASA’s Associate Administrator for Communications.

Inclan said that the magnetic reversal phenomenon really happened and was real, and even a number of scientists had studied it. This phenomenon occurs on Earth’s neighboring planet, Venus, which rotates backwards.

Meanwhile, Venus rotates long enough, namely 243 days, and the planet’s time to circle the Sun is equivalent to 225 days on Earth. This makes the Sun visible on the surface on Venus only twice a year or once in 117 days.
