Austrian Hotel Industry Experiences Setback in Summer Tourism Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

The expectation of the domestic hotel industry to match the number of overnight stays from the pre-Corona year 2019 this summer will not quite be fulfilled. “We are three to four percent behind,” says Walter Veit, President of the Austrian Hotel Association (ÖHV) in an interview with the Kleine Zeitung. “That’s not satisfactory, especially since the costs have risen enormously.” The turnover is increasing in many cases, but the income is falling, explains the hotelier in Salzburg’s Obertauern.
