PlayStation 5 Slim: New Video Reveals Console’s Slimmer Design and Removeable Blu-ray Drive Option

After the first picture of the new model PlayStation 5 here’s a video showing the console in all its glory. At first glance, it is clear that it is not a classic “slime”, but minor differences are visible. Apparently, it is a bit slimmer, but the main thing is hidden elsewhere.

The black strip that divides the console cover and the mechanism cover catches the most attention. This confirms earlier speculations about options to add/remove Blu-ray drive. That way, Sony could sell only one console model, which would speed up production and reduce costs. Today it offers a PS5 with mechanics and a so-called digital edition. That way she would offer one and everyone would decide if they wanted a Blu-ray drive. And if you didn’t buy it first and then changed your mind, you don’t have to sell the whole console and buy a new one, but just buy the mechanics.

Most likely, Sony will solve this by selling the entire part with a cover, under which there will either be or not a Blu-ray drive. It’s quite a clever solution. The question is what players will say about the appearance, namely the aforementioned black strip dividing the console cover and the place where the mechanics are.

It looks like it’s only a matter of time before Sony officially announces the new model. This is also supported by the recent discount on PS5 with mechanics, which was also for Czech and Slovak players. The console was sold for 10,990 CZK instead of 13,390 CZK, or 475 euros instead of 550 euros.

Earlier speculations mentioned the release of the new PS5 model in September.
