Lee Dong-gwan, a candidate for the chairman of the Korea Communications Commission, announced that he would respond to the broadcast accident of YTN, a news channel, with complaints and accusations.
Candidate Lee issued a statement on the 11th and emphasized, “For the accident the previous day, YTN continues to make excuses by mentioning non-fulfillment of instructions between staff, technical errors, and shift hours.”
“We have determined that this situation cannot be tolerated any longer, and we will take all available responses, including filing a complaint with the Korea Communications Standards Commission and civil and criminal complaints against defamation,” he said.
“A number of broadcasting experts with long-term experience in the main control room, etc. said that the accident should be urgently addressed within 1-2 seconds, up to 5 seconds, and that it was not a mistake that such an accident lasted more than 10 seconds during live broadcasting. ‘ and points out that it is a ‘previous broadcasting accident’.”
“Also, at a sensitive time when he was nominated as a candidate for the chairman of the Korea Communications Commission, the fact that he will broadcast an apology only 24 hours later tonight after clearly defaming the candidate has no choice but to say that the sincerity of the apology is questionable.”

YTN explained, “It was a simple mistake and there was no intention at all.”
