The countdown has begun: in a week, on August 18, Montauban will attack its season at home by receiving Valence on the 1st day of Pro D2. A few days before the deadline, the club unveiled its new jerseys for the 2023-2024 season.
Tunics on which the Green and Black sought to display “the whole of [leurs] values, as well as a desire to free oneself from codes and create [leur] own identity”. In this dynamic, it is the own mark of theUS Montauban which sits proudly on these “made in Sapiac” products.
The USM home shirt is inspired by the 1990s, particularly that “of 1999, the year of the ascent to Elite 1”, specifies the club, which thus resumes a “pivotal period” in its history.
Two wins and one loss in warm-up matches
In a deep green oriented towards the historic colors of the Vert et Noir club, the outfit is enhanced with the characteristic gold horizontal stripes, recalling the colors of the logo of this era and the symbol of the Sapiac district, the Montauriol abbey, ‘Le Mont d’or'”, describes the US Montauban.
Conversely, the away shirt Tarn-et-Garonnais is distinguished by a dominant white, another historical color of the workforce, “always present during great successes”. The lines which appear there form a willow leaf, symbol of the city of Ingres and initial logo of the club. “Accompanied by immaculate white shorts, the pattern is repeated on the chest and sleeves. The green monochromy is a nod to the main color of the club”, continues theUSM Sapiac.
Common point to these two chasubles: the inscription “Ici c’est Sapiac” located at the back, at the level of the neck, in reference to the motto of the supporters. These new outfits will soon be available in stores. For now, Pierre-Philippe Lafond’s men are preparing for the launch of the Pro D2 season. In recent weeks, the players have chained three friendly matches, resulting in two victories against Biarritz (17 to 14) and Angoulême (33 to 25) and a heavy defeat against Castres (54 to 10).
