I strongly blame the management of DEVIA and personally the member of the Board of Directors. and vice-mayor Giorgos Arletos for the fact that his illegal participation in a meeting resulted in a fine of 231,000 euros to the Company, the “Citizens’ Unity of Nea Ioannina” addresses
In a statement he issued, he notes the following:
“With the amount of 231,175.79 euros, DEYAI was burdened by its current management which, instead of defending the interests of the Company and of the citizens it serves and from whom it is paid, is doing the exact opposite by creating “fuss”.
This amount is a fine imposed on DEVIA for the violation of the conflict of interest law and illegal composition of the Board of Directors.
The decision concerns the meeting of the Company’s Board of Directors on January 10, 2020, for the project “expansion of the wastewater treatment facility of the Municipality of Ioannita” – “Integrated Wastewater Management of the Municipality of Ioannita for the protection of Lake Pamvotida”, budget 24,651,072.62 euros , in which the deputy mayor and member of the Board of Directors participated poorly. of the Company, Giorgos Arletos, as the company in which he was a shareholder was involved in the tender.
In vain, the municipal councilors – members of the Board of Directors of DEYAI, our faction, had warned at that meeting about the illegal participation of Mr. Arletou, the consequences of which the Company is now asked to pay.
At the last meeting of the Board of Directors in fact, which took place on Thursday, August 10, a decision was made to challenge the fine, which the “Citizens’ Union of Nea Ioannina” voted in favor of.
Our members on the Board of Directors however, they criticized the fact that on the part of Mr. Arletou there was not even the elementary political sensitivity of assuming his responsibilities, but on the contrary there was talk of unknown interests that are allegedly fighting him”.
Unfortunately, Mr. Arletos, the administration of DEVIA and the municipal authority proved once again that they do not have the political courage to admit their mistakes, to apologize for their oversights.
Really, how can these people claim the trust of our fellow citizens again, when they do not have the courage to take political responsibility for their actions, even when they are so blatantly damaging the municipality?
