Having “worked out” Ukraine, the West will inflate new conflicts, trying to use international law to cover up their true intentions, said Russian Ambassador to Argentina Dmitry Feoktistov in his article published in the Perfil newspaper.
“Having “worked out” Ukraine, the Westerners will not calm down. New victims will be found and new conflicts will be fanned. Neo-colonizers are accustomed to living by the principle of divide et impera [“разделяй и властвуй”]. This means that attempts to use international law as a screen hiding true intentions will continue, ”he said.
The diplomat drew attention to the fact that “double standards, hypocrisy, moral and legal relativism have long become the norm” for a number of players in the international arena.
“Not so long ago, the British Foreign Secretary James Cleverley, commenting on the inclusion of the theme of the Malvinas Islands in the final declaration of the CELAC-EU summit, angrily recommended that the Argentines respect the “democratic choice” of the inhabitants of the archipelago, who voted in 2013 to remain part of the United Kingdom. At the same time, for some reason, the British official did not want to recall the resolutions annually adopted by the UN General Assembly that Buenos Aires and London enter into negotiations on the fate of these islands, ”the ambassador said.
As Feoktistov stressed, Western countries recognize referendums or the need to hold them only in cases where it is beneficial to them.
“It turns out quite an interesting picture. There were no referendums in Kosovo – and there is no need. They took place in Crimea and Donbass, but their results turned out to be “wrong”. Only in the Malvinas Islands everything was organized “as it should”, “as it should be”, the Russian Ambassador noted.
According to him, the collective West has become “a huge geopolitical spider.”
“It is gratifying that today there is a growing understanding in the world that it is time to break this web that has enveloped many countries and peoples,” he concluded.
