Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry Face Lawsuit Over Alleged Manipulation of Luxury Mansion Sale

CELEBRITIESOrlando Bloom (46) and Katy Perry (38) must appear in court in Los Angeles this month. The couple was sued by Carl Westcott, the ex-owner of their luxury mansion in Santa Barbara, California. He claims the stars took advantage of his deteriorating health condition to seal the sale.

In July 2020, Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry became the proud owners of the luxurious villa in Santa Barbara, California. The house – which is worth $15 million – has an ocean view pool, eleven bathrooms and eight bedrooms.

Carl Westcott, the former owner of the property, was 80 years old at the time of the sale. He has been suffering from Huntington’s disease since 2015, a hereditary condition in which certain groups of nerve cells in the brain slowly die. In his complaint, the American claims that he signed the sales contract while under the influence of opioids and painkillers. He had to take it because he had just had six-hour back surgery. Westcott claims that’s why he wasn’t in his right mind. According to him, the couple “abused his weakness” to seal the sale. “The combination of his age, the fragile condition of his back, his recent surgery and the opiates he took several times a day left Mr. Westcott mentally ill,” reads the complaint, which ‘Daily Mail’ could view.

Grandiose mistake

A few days after signing the contract, Westcott realized he had made a grandiose mistake and tried to cancel the sale. But Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry never responded to his request. According to Westcott’s lawyers, the contract is “voidable” due to the American’s health.

In the indictment, the American also claims that he had no intention of ever selling his house. He bought the villa just two months before Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry took over the property and hoped to spend his old age there. Carl Westcott wants his house back at all costs. The case is expected to go to trial on August 21 in Los Angeles, California.
