Remembering Tariq Muhammad: The Tarzan of the West and the Dangers of Muscle-Building Supplements

The people of the village of Hessa Shabshir in Gharbia Governorate, located in the heart of the Nile River Delta in Egypt, mourned the body of Tariq Muhammad, known in the media as “Tarzan of the West”, because of his extraordinary abilities in the challenges of towing giant cars in the streets of the city.

A state of grief prevailed among relatives and friends because of his sudden death, as “Tarzan Gharbia” aspired to enter the “Guinness Book of Records” as one of the owners of superpowers in Egypt and the world.

Captain Abdo Jamil, his close friend and gym manager who owned him, tells the details of his death, saying:

Tariq is a friend of mine from a long time ago, and he was afflicted with a number of diseases over the past years, but he did not treat himself first, and he was not keen on the journey of treatment in the necessary medical way. Last week, “Tarzan Al-Gharbia” was able to tow about 10 cars as an experiment to tow a train after obtaining the necessary approvals, because he wanted to achieve a record and enter the Guinness Book of Records, he said. After that incident, the thirty-four-year-old suffered a health setback and was admitted to the hospital, and he underwent a number of surgeries, but due to the accumulated diseases and the lack of discipline of pressure and diabetes, it was very difficult.

A close friend of “Tarzan of the West” said:

The deceased used to take nutritional supplements a long time ago, under the supervision of a doctor, and in specific doses, but he stopped taking them about 5 years ago. We talked with him a lot about his illness, but he refused to enter the hospital or disclose it, because he always wanted to appear good and athletic in front of people. I once insisted that he go to a hospital, and there they assured us that he was suffering from several diseases and needed special care. His death was a very great shock, because he loved goodness and helped people with treatment, and if anyone needed training and did not have the necessary funds, he would take care of that. His funeral was very large, and a large number of his fans were keen to attend and bury the body for its final resting place. Because of his love for exercise, we decided to mourn in front of the gym, which he loved so much.

Dietary supplement risks
Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Salama, a cardiovascular consultant, believes that muscle-building drugs are a great danger to the health of athletes, and they should be stopped because of their harmful effects on health.

Salama continued, in his interview with Sky News Arabia, that: “Nutritional supplements lead to kidney failure, blood ion disturbances, gout, digestive and nervous system disorders, electrical imbalances, and heart and brain strokes after the sharp decrease in potassium and magnesium salts in the body.”

The cardiovascular consultant confirmed that drugs that build huge muscle masses with stimulants disrupt hormone levels and increase the risk of heart attacks and strokes.
