BMW reveals factory armored version of 7 Series executive sedan and i7 electric version
The car with integrated armor is able to protect passengers from attacks with firearms and explosives and meets the protection class VR9 (withstands shelling from 7.62 caliber weapons with steel core bullets).
The load-bearing body structure of the protected BMW 7 is entirely made of armored steel, and three-dimensional structural elements are created by hot stamping. The BMW Protection Core concept provides for the creation of a protective capsule, combined with reinforced doors, as well as an armored floor and bulletproof glass.
At the same time, BMW engineers tried to minimize the differences between the armored version and the standard sedan. The petrol version of the car is equipped with a 4.4 turbo engine with a capacity of 530 hp, the i7 power plant provides for two electric motors with a capacity of 544 hp.
