World famous Porsche collector Magnus Walker is selling one of his unique cars. The historic Porsche 930 Turbo has the rarer smaller flat six and is in a wonderful specification that has charmed those interested. It hasn’t sold yet, but it’s already worth millions.
Magnus Walker is one of the world’s most important personalities moving around the cult classic Porsche 911. The former fashion designer and now car collector originally from Sheffield, England attracted attention after he talked about his life in the American Los Angeles and his love for air-cooled Porsches in the documentary Urban Outlaw. In the past, this made him the star of the popular game Need For Speed, and Hot Wheels prepared his own series with more than 25 Englishmen inspired by cars from his personal collection.
And now the world has a unique chance to park a real Porsche by Magnus Walker in your garage. A quirky collector decided to sell his Porsche 930 Turbo, which went down in automotive history as the very first Porsche 911 Turbo. The community of enthusiasts for the Stuttgart brand still refers to it as the “widowmaker” because the combination of a turbocharger with a long delay and most of the weight sitting on the rear wheels requires an experienced driver’s hand.
However, they say that once you get the hang of it, you’re in for one of the best driving experiences ever. Magnus Walker bought a metallic green 1977 Porsche 930 Turbo in 2013. The important fact is that this particular car is from the last year of production when Porsche fitted the smaller 3-liter flat six to the model, which is significantly rarer than the later 3, 3 liter unit. Only 2,819 units were produced with the three-liter, while 18,770 were produced with the bigger heart.
Standard on the Porsche 930 Turbo to Magnus Walker are power-assisted disc brakes on all wheels, iconic 16″ Fuchs wheels, fog lights, headlight washers, decorative Turbo Strobe side stripes, power windows and power sunroof, whale tail rear spoiler, air conditioning and tartan interior trim.
Magnus Walker has taken good care of his turbocharged 911 as it underwent a major service this year. The clutch, ignition, oil line, new battery or tire are new. Cleaning the chassis with dry ice was also included. The British-American collector is also offering the car with a factory service manual, manufacturer’s literature, tool kit and jack, service records, magazines with the car and a production specification certificate from Porsche. Magnus Walker also appeared with this car in the documentary Turbo Fever.
Collector’s interest Magnus Walker’s Porsche 930 Turbo is for sale on the American server Bring a Trailer. The auction will end in five days, but already the highest bidder is offering more than 3.2 million crowns.
