Dough Spectrum Black: A Promising Monitor for Demanding Gamers

The German company Dough specializes in the production of monitors that demanding gamers have dreamed of after communicating with it. At the same time, however, these are the biggest promising companies in the field, because they announce the news two years in advance, with the fact that many of them have not even started production in the end. And when some Dough is actually produced, orders are placed a year in advance, without users knowing exactly when the monitor will arrive. Therefore, it is necessary to take the following news with a view.

Dough Spectrum Black is a monitor that, on paper, lacks nothing. It will (maybe) be available in a 27″ version with 1440p resolution and a 32″ with 4K resolution. Both promise a frequency of 240 Hz, matte and glossy design. At the same time, the bigger one is surprisingly supposed to be cheaper. The matte version will cost 799 euros, the glossy version will cost 899 euros. The 27-inch variant will cost 849, or 1049 euros. If these are prices without VAT, in conversion, the 32″ matte could cost only 24,000 CZK. Which is ridiculously low compared to OLED monitors.

The manufacturer is hiding whether it uses a WOLED panel from LG or a QD-OLED from Samsung. However, they are talking about 10-bit colors, 98.5% coverage of the DCI-P3 space and a brightness that reaches up to 1000 nits in the peaks. Gamers will be interested in VRR support (ranging from 48 to 240 Hz) with the promised AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia G-Sync Compatible certification. Furthermore, only a 0.03ms response and useful Black Frame Insertion (BFI) technology limiting motion blur in exchange for a reduction in brightness.

The Spectrum Black has a pair of HDMI 2.1, one DisplayPort (perhaps in version 2.0), a headphone output and a KVM switch with a four-port USB hub. There are two USB-C inputs. One only for data, the other also transmits the image (DP 1.4) and 100W Power Delivery. It is thus possible to connect the monitor to two computers at the same time, and together with the video input, peripherals inserted into it, such as a mouse, keyboard or webcam, will also be connected.

Dough already estimates that the monitor will be ready by the end of next year at the earliest (!) and according to the thread on Reddit it seems that the manufacturer is still far from clear about some key parameters.
