Indonesia Postpones Opening of High-Speed Rail Due to Safety Concerns

Indonesia has postponed to next month the test run of its high-speed rail, which was scheduled to open in October. The reason is safety concerns.

The test run between Jakarta and Bandung has been moved from August 18 to September. A high-speed rail official explained in a document that more time is needed to focus on the safety and comfort of passengers. The start of commercial operation will remain unchanged on October 1.

Indonesia’s high-speed railway was built with Chinese financial cooperation.
