Makkah – A new committee has been established under the control of the Saudi ruler Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for the supervision of the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah and the Masjid al-Haram in Makkah. A new committee on religious affairs will be chaired.
The committee, which was previously controlled by the government, was replaced by a new committee under the direct control of the king.
The new committee has more powers and independence in administrative and financial matters.
The new committee will supervise the prayers, related ceremonies and religious studies in both the churches.
According to local media, the king appointed Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al Sudais as the head of the religious affairs department of the two mosques and Tawfiq Al Rabia as the chairman of the board of directors of the general authority of the two mosques.
