Despite the risks, European traders have started storing gas in Ukraine, Reuters reported.
The agency notes that after the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, the EU tried to increase the volume of gas storages to compensate for the decrease in supplies from Russia, especially in winter. Thus, by November 1, 2023, the block is expected to fill its storage facilities to 90%.
According to traders, it makes commercial sense to store natural gas in Ukraine as well, in addition to the territory of the EU. In particular, we are talking about the opportunity to take advantage of lower prices now compared to future deliveries.
