Mother Demands Justice Against Violence: Deborah’s Story

“As a mother, what I see is a blank stare. A psychologist works with her.” This is what Deborah’s mother Ivelina Mihailova said during the protest in Stara Zagora against the violence.

“We want justice. That’s why I’m here. Not only for us, but for everyone who in one way or another has suffered such a thing as violence,” she added.

“To us especially – for Deborah, for ourselves, we receive numerous messages from many people who only want to know how Deborah is,” Mihailova added.

“We want to fight together. We have no other intentions here than to stop the violence,” said Deborah’s mother categorically.

“Deborah made an appeal, it wasn’t easy for her at all, as you saw,” added Krasimir Mihailov, the girl’s father.

The most important thing is that my child recovers as soon as possible and that there is justice. I can’t say he’s in a good mental state. There is an improvement. She took to social media to thank the thousands of people who expressed support. We are grateful for the support and see that we are not alone. We have hope and hope that he will speak his mind soon. We have to give her time,” Mihailov explained.

“Serious changes are needed in the Criminal Code. There is no standard for forensic medicine. This project, which they will work on in the Ministry of Health, is from five years ago,” said Monika Marinova, close to the family.

“Vezhdi Rashidov’s statement does not deserve comment. This was an insult to every single Bulgarian woman. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing,” she added.
