Last weekend, the volunteer award ceremony of the BLSV district of Lower Franconia in Gemünden (Main-Spessart district) for the year 2022 took place. This emerges from a press release by the association, from which the following information is also taken.
Like many other events, the honorary award ceremony of the BLSV district in 2021 and 2022 fell victim to the corona restrictions. Nevertheless, the incumbent district board around district chairman Klaus Greier and the two deputies, Alexandra Kronen and Karl-Heinz Hübner, did not want to simply skip the honor and continue with the honor for 2023. Because in the 1,600 or so clubs and ten sports districts in the district, there are numerous volunteers who deserve an honor.
After the award for 2021 was made up for in 2022, the award for 2022 has now taken place. Ten people who have rendered outstanding services to the sport were selected as the district winners by the respective district boards.
The sports district of Aschaffenburg became Just Gertrude awarded by the district chairman Kronen. Lang has been a board member at TV Dettingen and a trainer at TV Wasserlos for more than 40 years. In addition, since 2002 she has been deputy chairwoman of the Turngau district of Aschaffenburg.
For the Miltenberg sports district Armin Altmann honored by the deputy district chairman Klaus Kühnapfel. Altmann looks back on more than 40 years of service on the board of FC Heppdiel, which he handed over to his successors this year and was appointed honorary chairman.
The eulogy for Richard Binner from the Main-Spessart district, the district chairman Theo Anderlohr held. Richard Binner has volunteered for his club, TSV Wiesenfeld, in various functions for over 45 years. In particular, he was involved in the construction and maintenance of the Waldsassenhalle.
Received the award as district winner of the district of Würzburg Stadt Manfred Gray by the deputy district chairman, Joachim Jeske. After his active time as a competitive athlete in basketball at DJK Würzburg, Manfred Graus first worked as a trainer and then as department head in the basketball department of TGW. He has been the first chairman for more than ten years now.
In the sports district of Würzburg Land Sandra Handke awarded by district chairman Burkhard Losert. For 25 years, Sandra Handke has been in the sports department of the district of Würzburg and, in addition to many other activities for the clubs and schools, is also responsible for the organization of the district sports festivals, sports promotion and the AK Sport in schools and clubs.
Anton Baum could be happy about the award as district winner in the district of Kitzingen. The laudatory speech was presented by the deputy district chairman Manfred Marstaller. For more than 40 years, Anton Baum has held the position of first chairman of the city association for physical exercise, the merger of the sports clubs in the city of Kitzingen. He was a member of the finance committee and for 16 years first chairman of the Kitzingen gymnastics community, as well as 20 years treasurer of the Bavarian Athletics Association, district of Lower Franconia.
The Sportkreis Schweinfurt became Peter Förster honored by the chairman of the honorary circle, Kurt Vogel. Peter Förster experienced the sport of karate from 1962 and, in addition to the club work at TG 1848 Schweinfurt, also helped to shape it in responsible positions nationally and regionally. He was involved in the founding of the Karate Association within the Judo Federation and in the founding of the Bavarian Karate Federation in 1983 and is still active as Managing Director in the Executive Committee.
Norbert Kroeckel was honored in the Bad Kissingen sports district by the deputy district chairman Sebastian Wieber. Kröckel has been involved in football refereeing for over 45 years. For 35 of those years, he worked on a voluntary basis for the Bavarian Football Association as a group teacher, assessor, district referee chairman and referee observer.
Received for the Rhön-Grabfeld sports district Wolfgang Rudolph District and district chairman Klaus Greier presented the award as district winner 2022. Wolfgang Rudolph has been chairman of SV Eichenhausen for over 25 years and has formed the club into a popular sports club, which today has over 240 members and moves the majority of the 300 or so residents of the small town.
Gertraud Strätz as a district winner from the Hassberge district, unfortunately she was unable to take part in the honorary award ceremony. This honor will be made up for at the next award ceremony in autumn 2023.
Raymund Schmitt Prize awarded to two people
In addition to the district winners, the BLSV district of Lower Franconia also awards two people with the Raymund Schmitt Prize every year.
The selection of the district winner stood out Otwin Hack from Rimpar. At a young age he was an active athlete in athletics, fistball and soccer, and he began volunteering for the sport as a youth soccer coach in 1968. In 1971, Otwin Hack successfully took part in the instructor training course, and in 1973 he completed the training to become a sports badge examiner. In 1982 he founded the athletics department of the DJK Rimpar in order to be involved in the founding of the sports working group in schools and clubs the following year, of which he took over the management in 1984. After many other actions, Otwin Hack took over the office of district chairman of the Bavarian Athletics Association in Lower Franconia in 2005, which he should hold until 2018. In 2006 he was elected chairman of the Friends of the LAZ district of Würzburg. An office that he still fills with enthusiasm today.
Numerous honors such as the appointment as an honorary member of the DJK Rimpar or as honorary chairman of the BLV district of Lower Franconia are testimonies to his outstanding commitment. The award of the Raymund Schmitt Prize as district winner 2022 of the BLSV district of Lower Franconia is the next acknowledgment of this exemplary commitment to sport.
Received the Raymund Schmitt Prize for Lifetime Achievement Kurt Vogel from Schweinfurt. Vogel started volunteering in 1956 at the age of 16 as secretary of the Kitzingen weight training club. From 1960 he worked as a handball referee for the TV Somethinghausen. As early as 1964 he started at RV 89 Schweinfurt, where he held the position of board from 2011 to 2015. From 1985 he was the organizer and responsible organizer of the Maintaltriathlon in Schweinfurt. In 1991 Vogel completed his training as a referee for the German Triathlon Union and has been active as a referee in triathlon since that time. He has been the second chairman and treasurer for the district association of the Bavarian Triathlon Association since 2006. At the same time, he also held the office of secretary here from 2006 to 2012.
Kurt Vogel has also been associated with the German Sports Badge since 1963. Since that time he has been active as a sports badge examiner and has successfully passed the German Sports Badge exams 63 times.
But that’s not all of the voluntary commitment to sport. In 1984 he took over the office of BLSV district chairman for the district and the city of Schweinfurt. An office that he held until 2022 – i.e. 38 years. In the organization of the BLSV, he was also able to contribute his commercial expertise to the Economic Council for eight years, four of which as deputy chairman. Due to his outstanding services to sport in the district, he was appointed honorary district chairman in 2022. Vogel has also received numerous honors in recognition of his commitment. The award with the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon in 2018 is outstanding.
The honorary award ceremony for 2023 will follow in late autumn, which means that the normal rhythm of awards has been reached again.
